WIC
What is WIC?
WIC, the special supplemental nutrition
program for Women, Infants, and
Children, provides nutrition education, supplemental
foods, and referrals to other health services for low income mothers and their
children.
Why is WIC important?
Your children need good nutrition, starting when you are
pregnant, to grow up strong and healthy.
Who is WIC for?
- Women who are:
- Pregnant
- New Mothers
- Breastfeeding
- Infants up to 1 year of age
- Children up to age 5
If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal
guardian of a child under 5, you can apply for WIC for your child.

You will receive checks to buy free, healthy foods at the
grocery store.

You will save money when you use your WIC checks. You can
use this money to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, baby foods, and other
foods WIC does not provide.
If you are on WIC, can you still be on other programs?

You may qualify if you or your child:
- Have a nutritional need for WIC
- Meet the WIC Program Income guidelines
- Live in an area that has a WIC clinic

Yes, they are free.
